Our History

The Women of the Midwest travel concept is a wholly owned division of Executive Travel Inc. Executive Travel was founded in 1986 and has achieved outstanding growth and success over the past 32 years. The company has been honored by Inc. magazine for four of the past five years by being included on the annual Inc. 500|5000 list, an exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies.

Anne Fuldby-Olsen, the founder of Women of the Midwest, came to Executive Travel from Copenhagen, Denmark via Athens, Greece, in March 2012. Anne has spent more than 30 years in the travel industry, worked for two airlines in the beginning of her career and, after moving to Greece, she built a Destination Management Company. As the European expert, she enjoys designing beautiful tailor-made European tours. Since January 2015 Anne is leading Executive Travel’s Groups, Meeting and Incentives Department with an intense passion and endless energy. Her extensive travel experiences around the world since her childhood, and her huge network of collaborators, grants her the ability to create unique signature journeys.

The idea of Women of the Midwest arose when Anne realized that close to 65% of her group tour participants are female travelers. Along with Anne’s strong local network over the past 6 years (Anne spend half of her time in Lincoln, NE), and a handful of enthusiastic Nebraska friends-of-heart, Women of the Midwest was born and the dream of offering journeys solely to women became true.

Anne’s favorite quotes:
“To Travel is to Live.” H.C. Andersen, Danish author and fairy tale writer.
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” Aristotle, Greek philosopher.
